Is the pump located inside a skimmer box?YesNoHas the pump been run dry or exposed to air (not fully submerged)?YesNoHas the pump intake screen been cleaned & checked for debris / clogging?YesNoA clogged intake screen can cause water flow issues that will overheat your pump! Simply cleaning your intake screen and or skimmer basket can fix your issue! Have you checked inside the impeller for algae, leaves and other debris?YesNoIf you don't have an intake screen or your intake screen or skimmer aren't working properly then debris can get inside the pump and clog up the pump's impeller. Simply checking and safely cleaning the impeller of the pump can fix your issue! Does the pond have a functional auto water filler?YesNoIf your pond doesn't have an auto filler then your pump is at risk of having run dry. Running dry will cause your pump to overheat. Does the pump work but produce loud irregular noise?YesNoDoes the pump pop the breaker or GFCI?YesNoThis could be an issue with your GFCI or breaker and not the pump. Using an extension cord to reach a new outlet or breaker can tell you where the issue lies. If the issue lies with the GFCI or breaker please contact an electrician. Has the pump cord been cut for hardwiring purposes?YesNoUnfortunately cutting the cord will void any warranty on the pump. You still may be able to fix your pump with an affordable Rebuild Kit Which, if any of these, explain your issue?Pump does not run and does not vibrate or humPump runs but does not deliver water or only humsPump runs but delivers only a small amount of waterFuse blows or circuit breaker trips when pump startsMotor runs for a short time, then stopsOptional Float switch malfunction Pump runs and pumps out sump, but does not stopPossible Causes pump does not run and does not vibrate or hum Pump cord is not making contact in receptacle or cord is cut. Line circuit breaker is off, or fuse is burned or loose or receptacle is faulty. Water level is too low and has not reached turn-on level as indicated in installation drawing on the carton. Float (optional) is stuck. It should operate freely in basin. If all of the above are OK and then the motor should be operate. Possible Causes Pump runs but does not deliver water or only hums Inlet screen holes are clogged. Remove the screen or pump and clean the openings. Impeller or volute openings are fully or partially clogged. Remove the screen and pump and clean. Vertical pumping distance is too high or the pipe size is too small. Reduce vertical distance or increase the pipe size fittings. Pump is air-locked. Start and stop several times by plugging and unplugging cord. Check for clogged vent hole in pump case. Discharge shut-off valve (if used) may be closed. Check valve (optional) is installed backwards. (Not included with pump) Arrow on valve should point in direction of flow. Possible Causes Pump runs but delivers only a small amount of water Pump is air-locked. Start and stop several times by plugging and unplugging cord. Remove pump and clean the openings Impeller or volute openings are fully or partially clogged Remove pump and clean Pump impeller is partially clogged with debris, tar or paint, causing motor to run slow and overload. Remove pump and clean Possible Causes Fuse blows or circuit breaker trips when pump starts Pump’s intake screen or impeller is partially clogged with debris, tar or paint, causing motor to run slow and overload. Remove pump and clean Water level is too low and pump is running dry and overheating Insufficient head pressure see Best Efficiency Chart(On box and manual) Fuse size or circuit breaker may be too small. (Must be 15 amps) Motor stator may be defective. Possible Causes Motor runs for a short time, then stops Water level is too low or skimmer running dry. Add water to pond or check clogged skimmer box Inlet holes or inlet screen are clogged. Remove pump and clean the openings Pump impeller is partially clogged with debris, tar or paint, causing motor to run slow and overload. Remove pump and clean Motor stator may be defective. Possible Causes Optional Float switch malfunction Pump runs and pumps out sump, but does not stop Float (optional) is stuck in up position. Be sure float operates freely in basin Defective float switch. Replace with float switch Defective vertical switch. Sometimes in processing and shipment the safety switch can get turned and cause the pump to never turn on. Follow these steps to quickly get things back and running: If you plug power cable but Air Pump do not turn-on: Please open the Pump housing (Please see operation manual page 5 Process 1~5) and check the parts 8 (Security Stopper). If the Security Stopper the Triangle symbol like (picture A) is wrong. That is because the shipment or people who movement the air pump in wrong way. Please use the screw driver or coin turn the Triangle symbol like (picture B). Put the Air pump cover back then plug in the power cable turn on Picture A: Picture B: While inside the pump please also check the internal hosing of the pump. Sometimes the air tubes inside the motor will pop off if the pump was dropped during shipping. The hoses just push on by hand. Did you know?? There is a limit to how much hosing you should use on your air pump, make sure you are using the right hose sizing and amounts for your setup! [ninja_tables id="5309"] You could actually be using the wrong diffuser set up as well! Take a look at our recommended Matala diffuser set up for each sized pump [ninja_tables id="5313"] If your pump running after several days or several weeks then stop: Please open the air pump housing (Please see operation manual page 5 Process 1~5) and check the parts 13 (Actuating Arm) If you see the Actuating Arm position already shift (please see the picture A) not in the middle of Electromagnet (Please see operation manual page 5 Part 7) then please use screwdriver to move the Actuating Arm back to the normal position(Please see the picture B).
